What is the best time to visit Komodo for diving?
The weather conditions in the Komodo National Park are good all year round except for the months of January and February as it is the peak of the monsoon season. Contrary to popular belief, January and February is the best time to see the Manta Ray migration, diving and snorkeling with hundreds of mantas. The high season is from April until December. The average air temperature ranges between 30° and 32° Celsius.
How big are your dive groups?
Without mistake we maintain a 4 on 1 ratio of 4 divers of equal experience to 1 dive guide. While we do our utmost best to group divers accordingly, there are limitations to our capabilities in this regard.
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
Komodo Sea Dragon caters to all standard dietary preferences and allergies, ensuring a personalized and safe dining experience for every guest. Please inform us accordingly during the booking process.
Is the liveaboard suitable for snorkelers?
Yes, the Komodo Sea Dragon liveaboard is highly suitable for snorkelers. It offers excellent opportunities to explore the rich marine life of Komodo National Park, and with the added benefit of a dedicated snorkeling guide, snorkelers can enjoy a safe, guided, and enriching experience in the water.
Do you provide internet access?
We offer free internet via 4G hotspot. There is internet connection througout most of the Komodo National Park with only a few dead spots where internet connection may be unavailable for a short period of 1-2 hours.
Is NITROX available on your liveaboard?
Yes, NITROX is available for all NITROX certified divers. The pricing for NITROX is USD 15 per day or USD 8 per tank.
Do you provide airport / hotel transfer?
Yes, we provide complimentary airport / hotel transfer both on check-in and check-out dates. Hotel transfer is free of charge exclusively in town of Labuan Bajo.
Do you offer equipment rental?
Yes we do. We provide equipment rental for both scuba diving and snorkeling. The equipment rental is an extra cost which you can view on the main page.
Do you visit the Komodo dragons during the trip?

Yes we do. All our liveaboard itineraries include visiting the Komodo dragons on either Komodo or Rinca islands. Depending on the length of the trip, additional stops are also made at Padar, Pink Beach and/or Kalong Island.

Do you accept credit cards onboard?
Yes, we do. Onboard we accept two different payment methods: credit card and cash. Cash payments can be made exclusively in IDR, USD or EUR.
Can I combine staying at Komodo Resort and the liveaboard?
Yes and this is a popular request. The reservations teams of the resort and the liveaboard are separated but the individual teams will assist and communication accordingly to ensure a seamless experience during your stay with us.
What should I not bring with me?
  • Towels: we provide bath and diving towels in every cabin.
  • Hand soap/shower gel/shampoo: we provide all of those in the cabin.
  • Hair dryer: one is provided in each cabin.
  • Too many warm clothes, as the air temperature is usually between 28-32 degrees Celsius (82F - 89F)
  • Excessive plastic packaging – please pack items carefully and remove excess packaging to minimize any rubbish
  • Non-rechargeable batteries – whenever possible, please choose re-chargeable
  • Diving gloves – these are not permitted in the Komodo National Park.
  • Fishing equipment – fishing is prohibited in the Komodo National Park.
Can I fly my drone in the Komodo National Park?
Yes you can but there is a special ticket/permit which we need to purchase for you. The cost of the ticket is 1,400,000 IDR and it can be used only for one day. Take note there are also specific no-fly zones which will be communicated while onboard.
Is there a child policy / rates or reduction?

We accept children on our liveaboard at the full responsibility of the parents.

For infants aged 0 – 2 years old, the rate is IDR 470.000 per child per night and upon request. Children of 3 years old and older will be charged as adults with a 20% reduction in price.

Children 0 – 6 years old don’t need to pay for the Komodo National Park tickets.

What should I bring?
  • Dive certification cards & logbook
  • Your insurance documents (travel, health, dive insurance)
  • All personal toiletries that you will need for the duration of your stay
  • Swimwear
  • Sandals/flip-flops
  • A raincoat
  • A pair of sturdy walking shoes for hiking
  • Long sleeved light clothes (for land tours)
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Dive gears: mask, fins, regulator, BCD, wetsuit, dive computer, torch
  • A rash guard for snorkelers
  • A small waterproof bag
  • Chargers for your electric devices
  • Power plugs adapter for non-European plugs
What kind of food is served?

Our chefs serve up a delicious mix of international, Indonesian, Italian and Thai cuisine.

Meals are served buffet style.

Do I need a Visa to travel to Indonesia?

All visitors must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months after entry into Indonesia as well as a valid return or onward ticket.

Depending on your country of origin, there are three options to enter Indonesia that apply to most travelers that come for tourism/social purpose only:

  • No Visa required (169 countries – FREE entry / 30 days validity / Not extendable)
  • Visa on Arrival (35US$ / 30 days validity / extendable once for 30 days)
  • Visa needed (must apply abroad before traveling to Indonesia)

Please double check with the Indonesian Embassy in your country of origin to confirm your eligibility.

What is the dive schedule like?

Our typical dive schedule starts between 07:00 - 08:00 and consist of a three tank dives during the day with a potential night dive where possible.

We perform proper surface intervals in between each dive. On the last day of the liveaboard we will perform a maximum of 2 dives to allow for sufficient interval before the flight times.

Where is the nearest decompression chamber?

The nearest decompression chamber is found in the main town of Labuan Bajo at Siloam Hospital.

What type of dive tank is available? DIN or INT?

Our dive tanks are 12 liters aluminum with DIN or INT regulators system. We also have a limited number of 15 liter aluminum tanks available on request against a small surcharge of USD 5 per tank per day.

Is there any other type of local taxes I should be aware off?

All guests (divers and non-divers) who visit the Komodo National Park need to pay an additional National Park Fee as follow:

International Visitors:

– Working days (Monday to Saturday) IDR 175,000 per person/day

– Non Working days (Sunday & Public Holidays) IDR 250,000 per person/day

Local visitors:

– Working days (Monday to Saturday) IDR 40,000 per person/day

– Non Working days (Sunday & Public Holidays) IDR 50,000 per person/day

Retribution Fee:

– IDR 100,000 per person/day for divers and IDR 50.000 for snorkelers

These tickets can be purchased directly at the resort and you may settle upon check out together with all the extra incidental charges that you will have.

Entrance fee (to Komodo/ Rinca Island for Trekking & Dragon spotting):

– Approximately IDR 200,000 per person/day

Ticket can be purchased directly at the ranger office upon arrival at the ranger station

How do I get to Labuan Bajo?

There are few airlines that fly directly from Jakarta Soekarno Hatta (CGK) and Denpasar, Bali (DPS) every day as below:

  • From Jakarta: Garuda Indonesia / Batik Air / Citi link
  • From Bali: Garuda Indonesia / Wing Air / Nam Air / Air Asia

Please note the flight times are subject to change without prior notification and we recommend that you purchase a travel insurance to avoid any difficulties.
