Cannibal Rock

(South Komodo)

Considered to be the pearl of the south. Very famous for its rich biodiversity and location, looking at the bay you can see why this is like Jurassic Park, high cliffs surrounding with wild dragons.

Jumping with the current you drift on to a large rock formation starting at only 3m going to 30+ m. With the rocks completely covered in corals and marine life it is hard to know where to start looking. Following the rocky formations we start to see large schools of fish making their way around the rocks. Large trevallies and barracudas are often seen here. With banded bamboo sharks hiding in out crops and under large rocks.

Cannibal Rock is also regarded as one of the macro highlights of Komodo. Being completely covered in all types of corals and fans makes this a perfect habitat for them. Nudibranches, frogfish, leafy scorpion fish can all be found here. When coming back up to the Safety Stop at the top of the pinnacle we can be surrounded in schools of snappers and fusiliers. In the peak season can be difficult to reach due to rough sea conditions. Water temperatures can also be considerably lower than in the central sites.
