Tatawa Besar

(Central Komodo)
At this site there is one of the most amazing coral gardens of Komodo archipelago, well worth more than one dive.
In perfect condition, the dive at Tatawa Besar becomes a fun drift over a colourful underwater landscape for hundred of meters. It is not necessary to go deep, because marine life is concentrated between 5m and 18m depth. Hard and soft corals with mostly orange-reddish hues and bright blue sea create a contrast of colors that is hard to forget. Boulders scattered here and there thickly encrusted with sponges hide leafy scorpiofish, young batfish, nudibranches, and moray eels. Often we find ourselves transported by the current and surrounded by a myriad of fusiliers that swim in perfect synchrony.

However we will easily spot napoleon wrasses, sea turtles and black tip shark. This site is also an unforgettable place for macro-photographers, as invertebrate species are the most interesting here. During the Safety Stop, it may happen that a manta ray passes nearby.
