Hilltop Sunset

The Hilltop Sunset bungalows sit on the very highest tip of Sebayur Island, at the top of the ridge at Hilltop Komodo Resort, our second property on the island. There are only three of them. Nothing is built above them, nothing interrupts the sightline, and the view opens out across the islands in a sweep that most people only see after hiking somewhere for it.

They face west, so the end of the day happens directly in front of the bungalow. The sun drops behind the islands and the light comes in low through the full-height glass and across the deck, which is the sort of thing that sounds like marketing until you have watched it from a chair with the doors open.

The rooms share the finish of the Sunrise bungalows: timber floors, woven wall panels, a long desk beneath the window, a sofa running along the glass, a walk-in wardrobe and a stone bathroom with a walk-in rain shower. The bedding can be set as a double or as singles, and an extra bed can be added. They are significantly larger, though, at 77 m² including the balcony against 71 m² for a Sunrise bungalow, and together with the position at the top of the island that is what the higher rate pays for.
